Hosting A Family-Friendly Christmas Party

With the weather getting colder, Christmas will soon be here. For many people, this means planning a great family-friendly party with their family and friends. If you are hosting the party, there are at least three things you should remember.

Plan For Bad Weather

If you expect a large turnout, you will need a big space to accommodate your group. Even if there is no snow yet, there’s a good chance your guests will not want to spend the whole party outside and they may not fit in your house. Renting a tent and a patio heater will keep your guests warm, even if the weather isn’t perfect.

Make Sure There’s Enough Seating

Even if you plan on dancing or doing a lot of standing yourself, it’s important to be sure you have enough chairs for everyone. You will likely also need plenty of tables, especially if you are planning on serving a full meal or doing other activities where your guests will want to use a table. To make sure you have enough tables and chairs for your event, have an estimated guest count at least a week or two before the event.

Have Fun Entertainment

When planning a family-friendly Christmas party, if you have guests of varying ages, it can be hard to come up activities to keep everyone interested. You may want to plan an assortment of games and activities and different activities going on at the same time. Your younger guests may enjoy games, such as Christmas Bingo, Build a Toilet Paper Snowman, and Pin the Heart on the Grinch. Teens and adult guests may enjoy other party games, such as Christmas Movie Trivia, Christmas Carol Pictionary, and Candy Canes (the Christmas-themed version of Spoons).

You may also want to do some classic Christmas games and activities, such as building gingerbread houses and Christmas karaoke. If you’re doing karaoke or another activity where some of your guests will be performing, be sure to get a stage, where the performers can be seen by the other guests.
